by The Smarter Wallet on March 24, 2010

The richest CEO paychecks pale in comparison to what these money moguls earn.

For those inspired by the awe-inspiring monetary achievements of others, this one is for you. Apparently, Bill Gates is no longer the richest person in the world anymore (see or The richest guy is now a mogul from Mexico named Carlos Slim Helu, a telecommunications titan with an extremely fat $53.5 billion net worth. Bill Gates is now sitting at #2 with $53 billion. What? That’s just a flimsy $500,000,000 behind the richest guy. And to think that Gates had it pegged much higher than that some ages ago.

Yeah! Not Bill Gates. The richest person is a Mexican. He has a telecommunication concern. But his assets are not so much more! but…why does not my name stand on that list???? =)

Gates has been pretty actively donating chunks of his fortune to charity (including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) – so it’s not a huge shock that at some point, another billionaire would push past him into the top spot.

I think the CNN has an omission in their list. C. Montgomery Burns is nowhere to be found.

Someone like Carlos Slim Helu is a great man too, but I love Bill Gates. Gates, you are a great man.
